Opiate overdose rates are increasing rapidly every day, and addiction is more common now than ever before. Still, we continue to shame those who find themselves addicted, shifting our eyes away as if they will disappear if we can’t see them. Shame drives is one of the biggest driving forces behind ongoing substance use and drives people away from treatment instead of towards hope. Imagine the pain of shame is as hurtful as a knife in the chest; would you have the strength to charge the knife and ask for help?

Harm Reduction seeks to remove all shame. Instead of requiring anything, we climb right into the hole with people and wrap our arms around them. We will do everything within our power to keep them safe and alive long enough to have a hop of recovery. We require nothing and give fully and completely all that we have to give. We save lives and build relationship, providing access to treatment referrals when they feel strong enough to ask.
